Picked up a massive haul of black cherry — truck and trailer both loaded down. The rounds were so big the kids used them as furniture.

The Haul

Filled the truck bed at the site and stopped for gas on the way home. The looks you get at a gas station with a bed full of cherry rounds are worth the trip alone.

The trailer got the big stuff — trunk sections too heavy to lift by hand.

These are not small rounds. The cross-sections from the trunk are big enough to use as a bed.

The Crew

What's Next

This cherry is waiting to be milled. The big rounds will make beautiful table tops or end tables — black cherry has a color that deepens over time into a rich reddish brown that most people only see in antique furniture. The smaller pieces are excellent smoking wood.
