Massive oak log on flatbed trailer with kids sitting on top

Brought home an oak log that barely fit on the trailer. This thing is going to produce some serious slabs once I get the saw mill set up.

The Log

One piece. Full trunk section. It took the entire length of the flatbed and then some.

The haul. Both kids claimed the top of the log before it even made it off the trailer. VEVOR ratchet straps and blue rope holding several thousand pounds of oak.

Scale

The kids sat next to it for reference. This log is longer than both of them combined.

The end grain on this piece is clean — tight rings, solid heartwood. Oak like this is worth the effort.

Plans

This log is destined for the band saw mill. Once it's milled into slabs, the oak will air dry and eventually become tables, benches, or whatever the right project turns out to be. Oak is oak — it's always in demand.
